Bengaluru police raided the ‘Times Bar and Restaurant’ on Residency Road that had allegedly organized a striptease last week. 70 women were rescued and around 100 people, including staff and customers, were arrested.

The police received a tip-off about the upscale bar being used for obscene and unlawful activities involving women. Customers were caught throwing currency notes at the women as they stripped. Cash worth two lakhs was found scattered on the bar floor.

40 employees, including the manager and cashiers, were arrested and over 30 mobile phones were seized.  However, the owners of the bar Gangashetty and his partners Omprakash Yadav, Vanitha, Shanti Swaroop, Dhanendra and Syed Sameer are currently at large.

The police said that many of the women who were rescued come from poor families. They were lured in with a job offer and later forced to perform striptease.

Multiple complaints have been lodged against the absconding owners and a manhunt has begun.
