Video: This Chinese detergent advert is outright racist, but it’s hardly the first

We aren’t aware of the geopolitical circumstances that led the makers of this advertisement to indulge in such unscrupulous racial bias. But it truly sheds light on how even in this day and age people are influenced by the centuries-old plague—the systematic repression of dark-coloured people including Africans, Indians and Native Americans.

We Indians, it seems, aren’t any better. Do you remember this Flipkart advertisement? For those of you haven’t watched it, here’s what the Indian e-commerce giant really thinks of people from north-eastern India. Notice the two children at the bottom.
