Warner’s slugfest of 178 off 133 balls, followed by a Maxwell special of 88 from 39 balls helped Australia post a whooping 417-6 against Afghanistan in their fourth group stage encounter on Wednesday.

The total set the new record for the highest ever innings total in a World Cup game, surpassing India’s 413-5 against Bermuda in 2007.

While David Warner was the undisputed hero of the day, the game produced lots of other memorable (and forgettable) moments.

Like when this poor kid was hit by a Warner six (Notice his dad on the phone)

And people decided to use the incident for humour

And when we all felt guilty for doing so

Or when Rambo descended on Perth

When Maxi decided to be a left-hander

And of course, little Davey Warner celebrating a century!

The hosts jumped up to the third spot with the smashing win and more importantly, stamped back their authority over the competition they’re favoured to win.

While it means heartbreak for Afghanistan’s cricketers and fans, they’ve nonetheless given us some unforgettable and spirited performances so far.

Here’s an example of their spirited supporters

Well done, Australia! Keep up the spirit, Afghanistan!
