Watch: Emraan Hashmi-starrer ‘Azhar’ teaser unveiled. Will this biopic do justice to Indian cricket’s ‘fallen hero’?

Hero of Indian cricket during the 90s, Mohammad Azharuddin is known as one of India’s most successful captains with 90 ODI wins under his belt. His unusual raised collar style, his fluid wristy batting and his stunning slip catches, Azhar was famous for all this and much more. However, three things he says he was always known for are: his belief in God,  his marriages and the undoing of his career with the 2000 match-fixing scandal.

One would assume that a life that has seen such highs and lows should have had a biopic long time itself. But like they say, it’s never too late! Directed by Tony D’Souza and starring Emraan Hashmi, it remains to be seen whether ‘Azhar’ will do justice to one of Indian cricket’s ‘fallen hero’.

In the recently released teaser, Emraan Hashmi picks up the bat and walks out of the pavilion in Azhar’s unconventional slouchy walk. “Collar up… The #Azhar teaser is out!” Hashmi posted on twitter. The biopic is set to release on 13 May, 2016.
