In what it could be seen as a rare incident, petroleum based oil was found in a village well in Bihar’s Gaya district last Saturday.

Reportedly the well has been abandoned for last two years due to an absence of ground water. However, noticing the presence of ‘water’ in the well, locals drew ‘water’ only to find that it smelled like petroleum based oil.

In a bid to clear the air, locals tried lighting the liquid and to their astonishment, the liquid reportedly caught fire. However, things have not gone so well around the well following the discovery.

People who came to know about the bizarre phenomena started flocking the location for collecting oil. It was reported that people who crowded around the well also indulged in a brief scuffle and in turn led the district administration to take control of the area.

Police cordoned off the well as affairs went out of hands.

“We got the information that some oil like substance was found in the and we sealed the well. The government authorities will send a team to investigate the matter,” a police officer was quoted by sakshipost.

Meanwhile. there has been no scientific explanation of the phenomena as of yet. It was learned that authorities will investigate the matter at the earliest.
