Which Bollywood actors you think could flesh out Britain’s most famous spy James Bond?

Our favourite topic on James Bond just got a leg-up with another possible candidate making news for going to don the next 007. The grapevine suggests English actor Idris Elba, best known as the druglord Russell “Stringer” Bell in the HBO shows, may step into Bond’s shoes. Whether they fit him or not is a different issue. In fact, writer of the new Bond novel Anthony Horowitz has just kicked up a storm by saying that Elba is ‘too street’ for such a suave character.

While Elba is by popular choice the first black man to be considered for Bond, Horowitz’s apprehension only shows that the world is verily divided when it comes to choosing the macho secret agent.

While the hunt is on for Britain’s most famous spy, which desi hero you think would flesh out the best 007? Here is our list:

First of all excuse us because we are not taking two of the three famous Khans: Shah Rukh and Aamir. We have seen the new Don and that’s enough! Shah Rukh can only be Baadshah and not Bond! Aamir…hmm…  ok, he bowled us over with his six-pack abs in Ghajini, but he is not cut for action, c’mon! And yes, with a heavy heart, we are also doing away with the dhai-kilo-ka-hath-wala Bollywood iron man Sunny Deol. Because he is a spent force to don that tuxedo and woo girls.

Bond Bollywood-ified

Hrithik Roshan

Bang Bang might have banged at theatres, but the Greek God aka Hrithik never fails us. He has got this thing, you know that Bond-ish swag, in him.

Salman Khan

He is sturdy. He may not have that stretchability to deliver quick shots like Pierce Brosnan does it in a blink, but man, he is Dabangg. Just like Sean Connery. Won’t it be amazing to see Bond getting a little street style and tucking his sunnies at the nape.  Whoa!

Randeep Hooda

His rough-around-the-edges charm pretty much makes him the ‘real’ and not the ‘reel’ Bond. His rugged look says it all. And crime thriller D totally vouches for him.

John Abraham

As far as looks go, can we likened him to Sean Connery? He has got a bod to kill for. His physicality like the Goldfinger star just stands out from the pack. The die-hard biker would make a great bike scene like the one in Tomorrow Never Dies.

Sanjay Dutt

He doesn’t have that flexibility, true. But he has a natural look of a baddie. There is something about the way he walks—stooped a little forward. He is best at donning that hard-as-nails avatar. With a lot of bling (the gold chain and bracelet and rings and watch) on that black kurta, he carries an aura with him.  A Munna Bhai-styled Roger Moore!

Sonu Sood

Don’t raise that brow and skew lips! Stop rubbing your lower cheek with that finger! We know what you mean, but, we bet,  the virility of his voice will drive you crazy. The tinsel town hunks envy him for his genuinely built frame.

Akshay Kumar

He doesn’t boast of a Bond-like body. But no one in Bollywood can match his pace. He moves like a cheetah. So fast that if you blink, you will miss it. His eyebrow-driven levity makes him an impactful Bond. Plus, this martial artist does his own stunts. He is someone who ensures that Bond is believable.

Ajay Devgan

He may lack that shrewd look and masculinity and all that jazz that makes a Bond, but his eyes, they just pierce your epidermis and go deep till they meet your inner voice and wake it up. They are so intense and serious about their work. Singham is a case in point.

Vidyut Jamwal

Before rolling your eyes you should watch him in Force and Commando. The badass boy certainly stole John Abraham’s thunder in Force.

Arjun Rampal

We are not sure how he would look with a gun. But when he gets into a tux, even Daniel Craig would throw a gaze at him. He completely owns that look with indecent amount of sex appeal.

Tiger Shroff

Don’t boo us for this lapsus calami. Minus his face and that overly fair skin, his deft legworks are worth a watch. We like this newbie’s athleticism.

Rajinikanth

Unbelievable is his other name. He will make the only Bond who doesn’t need any gadgets, courtesy his multifunctional limbs.
