Why are celebrities and politicians taking the #22PushUps challenge
Remember the Ice Bucket challenge that kickstarted in 2014 to raise money and awareness for ALS? A similar challenge has surfaced this year for another social cause and many celebrities, politicians and people are taking up this challenge.
The 22 Push-ups challenge focuses on the high rate of suicide among US veterans. 22Kill, the non-profit behind this challenge, wants to spread awareness about veteran suicide prevention and supports organizations that provide services for veterans and their families. A study estimated that an average number of 22 veterans committed suicide everyday in the US.
Celebrities like John Krasinski, Chris Pratt, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Chris Evans, Scott Eastwood, Anna Faris and Aaron Paul have taken up this challenge, which will continue for 22 days. Even politicians are hitting the ground and doing their 22 pushups.
