Sunny Leone, the condom ad and why controversy seems to stalk her

The sexy Sunny Leone is back in the news. This time it’s on account of CPI leader Atul Kumar Anjan’s foot-in-mouth statement that a condom ad featuring the actress will lead to an increase in rape cases. While the absurd comment has caused outrage and ridicule, it puts Sunny back where she most often is – smack in the middle of a controversy.

Not too long ago, she had an obscenity case filed against her. Sunny was accused in the complaint of circulating obscene content on the Internet – a punishable offence.

The past simply won’t go away for the actress who has, by her own admission, been trying to shake off the ‘porn star’ tag and to be taken as a serious actress in Bollywood. But it hasn’t quite happened and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Sunny Leone is still one of the most searched names on the Internet and her hot quotient is intact.

Those two words

In the run-up to Ek Paheli Leela, Sunny Leone told The Time of India in an interview, ‘As soon as the media deletes those two words then my fans will also delete it from their minds.’

Ek Paheli Leela

In the film in which she starred opposite Jay Bhanushali, Sunny Leone played a double role. Several scenes were described as ‘too hot to handle’ and the dialogues ‘raunchy’.

Water way to go!

Meanwhile, Sunny Leone fans were excited about her ‘Paaniwala dance’ in  Kuch Kuch Locha Hai.

Small screen sizzle

Sunny Leone is all set to return as host of MTV Splitsvilla, so that’s more of her for her fans.

The hot stylista

With that fab bod, you’ve got to give it to her, Sunny Leone can carry off pretty much anything.

A documentary on Sunny

The Sunny Leone phenomenon has fascinated Dilip Mehta, brother of Deepa Mehta, so much he’s making a documentary on her life. It will feature Sunny and her husband Daniel Weber and there is speculation that it might premiere at next year’s Sundance festival.

Clearly, Sunny Leone is not going to be able to delete ‘those two words in a hurry’ and she really shouldn’t be complaining.
