Will miss you, Binga: Brett Lee bows out of cricket after a breath-taking Big Bash over
What a thrilling finale to a spectacular career! Brett Lee’s final outing as a professional cricketer turned out to be a breath-taking spectacle in a last-over thriller of the Big Bash League final. And the former Aussie pacer was very much in the middle of all the action as he very nearly pulled off an unlikely victory for the Sydney Sixers against Perth Scorchers.
Needing 8 off the final over, Sixers’ captain Moises Henriques handed the ball to his most experienced bowler, who was outstanding on the night. Despite conceding 7 off the first three balls, Brett Lee delivered his best on the next two balls, knocking over two Scorchers’ batsmen on consecutive deliveries. But a fielding howler by Henriques denied Binga a dream finish to an outstanding career, as a missed run-out handed Perth the victory on the final ball.
Here’s the unbelievable final over of Binga’s cricketing career.
The tragic finish aside, tributes poured in from all around the world, bidding farewell to the legendary pacer and congratulating him on a highly successful career.
Nearly the perfect finish!
That is heart-breaking for Brett Lee, would have been one of the most incredible and deserved finales to a career. #whaddaplaya #BBL04
