Xiaomi has launched Mi Air Purifier 2 in India

If you thought Xiaomi only manufactures smartphones, you are wrong. The China based company has just launched Mi Air Purifier 2 priced at Rs 9,999, making it’s debut in consumer-durables market in India.

Given that Air pollution in India has become a major problem, it seems like strategic move by Xiaomi to launch a device that improves quality of air.

Mi Air Purifier 2 connects to the cloud via Wi-Fi, enabled by the Mi Home app. The app will enable you to use the smartphone as a remote control for the purifier. You will be able to power on/off  the purifier, switch modes with the app. You can also set schedules for the the purifier to switch on and off. Adding to the range of utilities, the app will allow you monitor the purity of air in real time and also will remind you when the filter needs to be changed.

The company claims that the purifier can remove PM2.5 particles, dust, indoor plant pollen, pet fur and other foreign particles.

“With its high 310m3/h CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate), Mi Air Purifier 2 takes just 10 minutes to circulate purified air in a 21m2 room. Even so, the motor is extremely energy efficient with a low power consumption of 4.8W, while advanced aerodynamics reduce noise and wind resistance, resulting in a noise level as low as 30dB in Night mode,” Hugo Barra, Vice President, Xiaomi.

The company has confirmed that the product will be available on  Mi.com and Flipkart staring 26 September at 12 PM.
