So you’re going to appear for your Board exams this year? How has the year been? Mounting pressure everyday? Has it been a countdown to your very first major exam in school, or are you just cooling your heels before facing the test? Read on to see some interesting things every Class 10 student would relate to for sure!

Internet and cable shut down

Parents remove the internet connectivity from your laptop and worse enough from your mobile too; so no FB!!!! This means no chatting with friends on things OTHER THAN STUDIES!

Shortcut to success

Yes, there are “No Shortcuts to success” but accept it, a Class 10 student knows his last minute runs for guides, self studies and even better, a sure shot 100-question answer book that assures you that only those questions will appear in your paper… What better!!! Remember the SHARP notes, Pragati guides and the types you stock in addition to your textbooks and classroom notes!

Festivities and trips cut down

The family keeps festival celebrations, get-togethers and trips  low-key so that you don’t waste your time and concentrate on your studies? Less fun and more focus!

With preliminary tests and Boards around the corner, you suddenly become either an early riser or an owl who sits through the night scanning your books. Which one are you?

Revisions, revisions and more revisions

No matter how much you study, memorise and revise, it never seems to be enough, does it? So you revise and re-revise and yet seem to forget! Does that sound familiar?

All current Class 10 students and all who have gone through those blues will remember mom’s support! Her hot cups of chocolate or chai kept our sleepy eyes open! What would our academic year have been without that!

Brimming tension, fear, blankness

Being a 10th grader means tension, stress and phobias all year long, building up to a frenzy as the Boards approach. ‘Will I recall whatever I have learnt?’; ‘Will I go blank when I see the paper? ‘Will I score well?’- too many such worried questions trouble the hapless student in those days!

Stream to pursue

Relatives and family badger you on which stream you’re going to choose: Commerce, Arts, Science or something out of the box, perhaps? You may be sure of what you want to pursue, but there are many who had absolutely no idea what they really wanted to take up.

Bunked those special classes

Our last year in school also entitles us to some fun. Bunking tuitions to meet up with friends or catching up for a movie perhaps? A little detour from textbooks is always welcome! I’m sure all of us have done this!

In your pyjamas

Being a 10th grader means spending most of your time at home, studying, not even counting the hours. You wake up from sleep and see a stack of books on a lot of subjects (including some you detest!) awaiting your pick. That means a late bath, late meals and sometimes sitting in your pyjamas to swot all day!

But school days are the best days of our life! Moving to a higher level brings excitement but also a thousand memories of the years gone by. By the end of that momentous year, you realise things won’t ever be the same again, and that this is your “Make or Break” phase!
