In a bizarre turn of events, 73-year old Paddy Lawler died just 45 minutes after being granted his dying wish, that of meeting some players of the football club he loves – Manchester United.
Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Ashley Young and Timothy Fosu-Mensah met with the old man at his home in Manchester. Paddy was suffering from prostate cancer and wanted to meet his favorite Reds before he died. His granddaughter Kayleigh, 27, posted an appeal on Facebook hoping to fulfill her granddad’s wish.
The post was shared by over a 1000 people, before being finally spotted by Lingard’s cousin. Within three days, the four Man United players visited Paddy. Unfortunately, Paddy died in less than an hour after meeting his heroes.
