The Andhra Pradesh government is keen to develop the Srisailam Temple in Kurnool district along the lines of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). Developmental works will soon begin and the government will provide the temple and its surroundings with amenities to attract more pilgrims and tourists.

The main deities worshiped in the temple town are Bhramarambika and Lord Mallikarjuna.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday sanctioned the project to build a 7 km outer ring road for Srisailam town and also to build five townships within the 5,000 acres of land which will clear the encroachments around the temple. Naidu reviewed two master plans to develop the Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada and the Srishailam temple.

The state government is keen to demolish encroachments around the Srisailam Mallikarjuna temple and provide rehabilitation to the shelterless through the townships. The chief minister also believes that this move will help protect the forests in the area.

He instructed the officials to link both Srisailam temple and Sunnipenta town to the yet-to-be-built four-lane national highway between Dornala and Srisailam town.
