‘Aristo’ Suresh: A commoner among common men

Movie director Abrid Shine dived deep into the underbelly of Thiruvananthapuram in search of raw talent and there, did he find V Suresh, a daily wage labourer-cum-leisure time poet.

In Shine’s recent release ‘Action Hero Biju’, Suresh aka ‘Aristo’ Suresh rose to fame with his ‘Muthe Ponne Pinangalle’ number. Having penned the song, he sung it in the movie without the aid of any musical instruments.

Shine culled an artist who is pure, sentimental and passionate about his lyrical rhymes. Suresh who hails from Aristo junction in Thiruvananthapuram, has always wielded the class of an artist. What makes him extraordinary is the subtlety in his lyrics, which is drawn out from the nitty-gritties of the less-important world of the lower-middle class.

In the poems and lyrics of Suresh, you can neither find an exaggerated metaphor nor an ink mark of artificially-induced diction.

Suresh was invited to act in the movie after a mutual friend played a recording of his songs to Shine. In his debut movie, Abrid also gave him the freedom to present the song – ‘Muthe Ponne Pinangalle’ as it fits his wit.

Though Aristo scripted a movie, it never saw light. After his debut in the industry, he hopes to come out with many more of such talents, which till recently were hidden.
