A student in Bhubaneswar trashed a private tutor, for passing lewd comments at her.
According to the report by Deccan Chronicle, the incident happened in the campus of Utkal University. Pratikshya Acharya was on her way to the ladies hostel, when Binod Kumar Sahu, 50, passed the remarks at her.
After informing her friends about what had happened, Pratikshya and a group of students returned to the spot only to find that Sahu had already fled. However, the girls managed to track him down and beat him with canes, before calling the police.
“After the interrogation, we have placed the accused under arrest. He has been sent to court,” Bhubaneswar deputy commissioner of police Satyabrata Bhoi said.
Pratikshya then put up a Facebook post narrating the incident.
“I was going to meet one of my friends at Utkal University today. After leaving my auto-rickshaw I was walking towards the ladies’ hostel when suddenly, I heard abusive words. As I turned around, I saw a man and he was calling me to sit on his bike and go with him. I didn’t respond. The road was empty as it was Sunday. But then he came towards me and said really bad things. There were a few auto drivers around but they ignored. I got really scared and called my friend Arpita. She arrived within two minutes. We collected two sticks of bamboo and after a search, we saw him coming from Pani Tanki road. Arpita stopped him and within seconds she started beating him and I got courage from her to hit him hard,” wrote Pratikshya in her post.
