Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley according to The Economic Times said that the Congress “will not have many reasons to celebrate” once the multi-agency probe into the ‘Panama Papers’ exposé unfurls.

The Congress party had demanded a Supreme-Court-monitored probe into the issue to ensure free and fair investigation.

“I have not understood their argument,” Jaitley said in reply to a question on the opposition’s accusation of his proximity with a person named in the leaked documents. He was talking to reporters at a media interaction organized by BJP at the Press Club.

According to the Hindustan Times, on a question on impartiality of the probe, the union minister said, “It is very impartial, and a multi-agency probe is going on. When the details will come out, Congress will not have many reasons to celebrate.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had ordered a multi-agency probe into the Panama Papers exposé by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists that listed 500 Indians with offshore links in the tax haven.
