Facebook user blackmails college girl of leaking private pictures

Bengaluru Police arrested a man, who allegedly extorted Rs 7 lakh from a teenage girl, by blackmailing her of leaking private pictures of the two of them.

22-year-old Rahul Sampath, who is believed to be the son of a Sandalwood producer, would befriend rich teenage girls by approaching them on social media sites.

According to the girl, Rahul sent her a Facebook friend request a year ago and two grew close, in a short span of time. “Rahul said his father is a big producer of Kannada movies and he too would become an actor one day. He’d often take me out or for long drives. Slowly, he started clicking pictures of us,” the girl told police.

The girl said that the accused tried to get intimate her, in spite of her resistance. “He started demanding money saying he needs to invest in films. When I refused, he threatened me saying he would upload my pictures on social media and defame me. Fearing the consequences, I gave him Rs 7 lakh in installments,” she told police.

Her parents began to suspect that something was wrong, when they noticed that their daughter was spending a lot money. The girl finally opened up to her parents, who in-turn lodged a complaint with the police.

According to reports, after catching the accused, the police found pictures of girls on his laptop and mobile phone.
