With atmospheric temperature soaring above normal and as the planet becomes more and more unlivable in the years passing, the state of Uttar Pradesh seems to have bucked up to address the elephant in the room.

On July 11, the state government officials, students and volunteers huddled up together for a thoughtful venture. In a span of just 24 hours, this collective planted over 49.3 million trees.

The state officials distributed millions of saplings envisioning a rebirth of state’s long-lost forest cover.

The drive to plant trees was the part of India pledge to increase the forest cover by 235 million acres by 2030, at the 2015 Paris climate change summit.

It is likely that this achievement would Uttar Pradesh in the Guinness World Records. However, there has been no official confirmation yet.
