Mamata Rapped For Ghulam Ali-Concert in Kolkata, Kerala Next To Host Ali?

While Shiv Sena has already come out against the hosting of Pakistan singer – Ghulam Ali’s programme in Thiruvananthapuram, West Bengal chief minsiter Mamata Banerjee faced public criticism for hosting Ali’s concert.

Shiv Sena in Thiruvananthapuram has vowed not to let Ali to sing there in the pretext of reports about Pakistan’s alleged involvement in the attack. The right wing Hindu nationalist group has threatened to hold protest marches to the program venues if Ali’s programme is hosted.

West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee drew flake for hosting Ghulam Ali’s program in Kolkata on Tuesday (January 12). The program was organised by West Bengal Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department.

Netizens and handles of BJP in social media condemned the holding Pakistani singer’s program while the country is mourning Pathankot. Mamata was equated to Nero as she ‘enjoyed’ Ghulam Ali program during looming communal tensions in Malda.

Ghazal maestro from Pakistan consented to hold programme in Kerala by accepting an invitation from socio- cultural group – ‘Swaralaya’. In the state capital, Ali’s programme has been scheduled to be held on January 15. On January 17, Ali will also perform in Kozhikode district.

State executive member of Shiv Sena in Kerala, P Aji told media that Sena is not against musical programs, but will oppose Ghulam Ali’s concert in protest against Pakistan. Shiv Sena leader also questioned the logic of holding such a program when the country is mourning martyrdom of Indian Army soldiers in Pathankot.
