Man stabbed to death by congress workers over a caricature of Sonia Gandhi

A man from Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh was killed by congress workers, over a dispute involving a caricature of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress president Sonia Gandhi that was shared on WhatsApp.

The incident took place near Jabalpur’s Vijay Nagar police station on the night of June 15. 33-year-old Guddu Verma was chased down by congress workers and stabbed to death. Five other were also left injured, during the incident.

According to police, the heated argument started on WhatsApp group ‘Vijay Nagar Fans Club’ — created by local Congress corporator Jatin Raj. An FIR has been lodged on the the accused, for assault and murder.

CSP Indrajeet Bakalwar told TOI “Conflict triggered over the caricature in which Sonia Gandhi has been shown washing dishes with a comment ‘Modi ne kya haal bana diya’ (see what Modi has done).”  The image was allegedly shared by a local advocate Prashant Nayak.
