Central government’s decision to merge Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) with Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) draws protest from Indian expatriates in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

As per reports, non-residents Indians in UAE have observed the decision to scrap MOIA unjustifiable as it was founded with a vision to facilitate expatriates who make valuable contributions to the financial system of the country.

“The prime minister has kindly accepted my proposal. So the MOIA will now be part of the ministry of external affairs,” said Sushama Swaraj in a tweet on Tuesday.

Established businessmen like Azad Moopen, B R Shetty and Dr. Shamsheer Vaylil have voiced their protest against the central government decision.
