India’s most successful captain,  MS Dhoni is on his way to make a world record for having captained most number of international matches.

The T20 win against Zimbabwe on Tuesday marked Dhoni’s 324th game as captain. He now stands equal to the current world record held by Australian legend Ricky Ponting.

Dhoni captaincy record

  • 107 wins in 194 one-day internationals
  • 41 wins in 70 T20 internationals
  • 27 wins in 60 tests

Ricky Ponting captaincy record

  • 165 wins in 239 one-day internationals
  • 07 wins in 17 T20 internationals
  • 48 wins in 77 tests

Dhoni will surely surpass the record, when the New Zealand Vs India series, which will include three tests and five ODIs, kicks off September of this year. Besides, Dhoni has already made it clear that he is committed to playing through to the 2019 ODI World Cup.
