Nayanthara gets assertive: Only heroine-centric roles or junior heroes for her
There’s little doubt that Nayanthara tops the power-list of actresses in the South. She famously charges Rs 3 crores per film and her recent hits like Maya and Naanum Rowdy Thaan have ensured that she’s in a position to call the shots and make demands.
Industry-watchers say that Nayanthara has increasingly veered away from playing heroine to the superstars. Apparently, she’s been heard to say that she becomes a mere hunk accessory in these films and prefers roles of substance and projects that are heroine-centric.
Her new career path has seen her willingly team up with younger heroes, those who have less of a superhero image. This worked very well for Nayan in Naanum Rowdy Than in which she shared screen space with Vijay Sethupathy.
The latest buzz in Kollywood is that Nayanthara’s next film is opposite Sivakarthikeyan, again directed by Naanum Rowdy Thaan maker Vignesh Sivan. To jibes that Sivakarthikeyan might look like her brother on screen, she’s come back, saying, “I pulled off playing Jai’s heroine (in Raja Rani) and I can transform myself to match any hero.”
