Nike, the world’s largest sportswear brand, recently introduced its futuristic sneaker ‘HyperAdapt 1.0′ at a media event in New York. Hyper Adapt 1.0 isn’t just an ordinary sneaker—it ties the lace itself!

The sneaker has enclosed sensors that enables it to automatically tighten when you wear it. The two back-lit buttons positioned on the sides of the sneaker allows one to loosen or tighten the pressure manually.

“The adaptive lacing system is an excellent first step towards truly adaptive personalized footwear,” said Matt Powell, sports industry analyst at NPD Group Inc., a market research firm.

post on Nike’s blog read that this was only the beginning of the revolutionary adaptive-lacing concept. The future might even allow real-time sensing that enables the sneaker to tighten during certain instances (such as quick maneuvers) for optimum performance.

As intriguing as HyperAdapt 1.0 seems, there’s very little known about the battery’s life or whether it needs to be charged. The sneaker will be available in three different colours to members of the Nike+ app. Nike is yet to reveal the price of the sneaker.
