Looks like love is in the air at Rio. He Zi of China received a silver medal for the women’s three-metre springboard at the Rio Olympics on Sunday. She also ended up receiving another prize in the form of an engagement ring from her boyfriend Qin Kai.

Kai who himself is won bronze in the men’s three-metre synchronised springboard last week, went down on one knee and asked her to marry him, in front of a global TV audience. Luckily for him, He Zi graciously said yes, as the crowd cheered on.

“We’ve been dating for six years, but I didn’t expect him to propose today,” Ze said.

“He said a lot of things, made a lot of promises, but I think the thing that touched me the most is I think this is the guy I can trust for the rest of my life,” she added.

This was not the only marriage proposal the the 2016 Olympics. In what could be called as a major win for the LGBT community, Brazilian women’s rugby player Isadora Cerullo melted hearts when she accepted a marriage proposal from her girlfriend at the medals ceremony.

Marjorie Enya, a manager at the Deodoro stadium in Rio, took the microphone to pop the question to her girlfriend.  A tearful Cerullo accepted, but since there was no ring Enya tied a ribbon on her finger.

“As soon as I knew she was in the squad, I thought I have to make this special,” Enya told BBC Sport

“I know rugby people are amazing and they would embrace it,” she said.
