We can’t seem to get enough of Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Anushka Sharma’s sizzling chemistry in the trailer of Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. And while the first two songs of the movie are already chartbusters, there are a few dialogues also which have caught the fancy of Bollywood fans.

One such dialogue we are all tripping on are actually the words of Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s ghazal. In a scene, Aishwarya says Mujhse Pehli Se Mohabbat Mere Mehboob Na Maang, and these words are repeated by Ranbir to a visibly snubbed Anushka.

Here are some other popular ghazals, that made their way to Bollywood films.

Gulon mein rang bhare – Haider: Mehdi Hassan’s very popular romantic tale Gulon Mein Rang Bhare was recreated for Vishal Bhardwaj’s film Haider in 2014 and was sung by the melodious Arijit Singh.

Woh jo hum mein tum mein qaraar tha – Dedh Ishqiya: Ghazal queen Begum Akhtar sang the beautiful words penned by Hakim Momin Khan Momin. The ghazal was rehashed for Abhishek Chaubey’s Dedh Ishqiya in 2014.

Hazaaron khwahishein aisi – Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi: How can one forget Jagjit Singh’s mesmerizing version of the ghazal Hazaaron Khwahishein Aisi! Shubha Mudgal’s powerful version of the ghazal in the movie will also leave you in a trance.

Aaj jaane ki zidd na karo – Monsoon Wedding: Fayyaz Hashmi’s ghazal has a lot of versions and is a dream song of every singer to sing. Farida Khanum’s version is probably the most popular of them all, which is why Mira Nair used this version in her crossover film Monsoon Wedding.
