The whole concept of casting couch is not exactly new in the Indian Film Industry. There has been many stories of aspiring starlets who had to go the extra mile to get any work.

In a recent interview with bollywoodlife, Radhika Apte opened up about how she was approached for casting couch and how she shut them down.

“I think once an actor in South called me on my room phone and tried to get flirtatious and I just was so rude to him. I think he fought with me later on,” the actress said.

She told that was the extent of it and that she was fortunate to not have met people like that. However, she later remembered that she had another disturbing experience:

“Oh once I got a call. Yes yes wait. Once I got a call and they said ‘they’re doing this film in Bollywood and I want you to have a meeting with them. But would you be okay sleeping with that person?’ And I laughed! I said you’re so funny, you’re very funny and I said no I’m not. Ask him to go to hell .”

According to casting couch has become more rampant these days, as desperate newcomers have become more willing to give in.

Meanwhile, Radhika Apte is preparing for the release of her new movie Parched, which is slated to hit theaters on 23rd September.

“It is her (character’s) journey of self-discovery. I don’t think I have ever played the part of a woman who has such a beautiful balance. She thinks nothing of herself so she has nothing to lose and that brings the magic in her. She is so pure and honest,” she said.
