Review Central: Prem Ratan Dhan Payo – Too sweet, too silly

Salman Khan’s much-hyped Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (PRDP) has hit the screens this festive season. It also marks the return of Sooraj Barjatya after a long hiatus. But while Maine Pyaar Kiya and Hum Saath-Saath Hain had their feel good factor and a certain charm, PRDP is insufferable, say the critics. Some have described it as ‘bloated’, others as ‘syrupy’ and ‘vapid’. Salman, of course, seems to have done his bit to prop things up, but in this case, it just doesn’t seem to be enough.

Our take

Go for a Sooraj Barjatya spectacle. Be prepared to be bored by everything else.
