The Euros are going on in full swing with teams battling it out to earn their position in the last 16. But here’s something more interesting than all the goals scored during the matches! In Sweden’s last knockout match yesterday against Belgium, a Swedish footballer was given a red card for breaking wind during the match.

Defender Adam Lindin Ljungkvist, who already had a yellow card against him, was shown the second yellow card followed by the red card for farting during the match. The referee accused him of “deliberate provocation” and “unsportsmanlike behavior”. The 25-year old admitted to having a bad stomach, due to which he “simply let go”. A shocked Ljungkvist also explained his “perfectly innocent fart” to the media and said, “I don’t get it. Maybe he thought I farted in my hand and threw the fart at him. But I did not.”

The referee, Dany Kako, also defended his act and said, “I perceived it as deliberate provocation. He did it on purpose and it was inappropriate.”

This is definitely the strangest thing to have happened in a football match so far!
