Islamic body in Pakistan has demanded the government to include Quranic teaching about the importance of Jihad in school curriculum.

Reportedly the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has expressed ‘serious’ concerns over the non-inclusion of verses about Jihad in a proposed syllabus for school level educational institutions in the country.

According to reports, chairman of the CII – Maulana Muhammad Khan Sheerani said that that the Federal Education and Professional Training Ministry should include the verses about importance of jihad in curriculum.

Apart from that the council has asked four provinces in the country to make teaching of Holy Quran mandatory in classes one to 12.

The council voiced its ‘serious’ concerns after the government presented a draft of the proposed curriculum before it so that the body could suggest measures for the implementation of Islam in the country.
