Neerja Bhanot, a 22 year old model and air hostess gave her life to save 359 passengers when the Pan Am Flight 73 was hijacked on 5th September 1986.
The young flight attendant, instead of losing control in fear, used her common sense and courage to save all the passengers (especially Americans, by hiding their passports from the hijackers) at a time when sheer terror had struck others.
She was awarded the Ashok Chakra posthumously and was also honoured with the highest bravery awards of the U.S.A and Pakistan.
A film on her produced by Fox Star Studios and Bling Unplugged, starring Sonam Kapoor has been made and the trailer is out today.
