What! Leonardo DiCaprio to support RSS’ beef ban movement?

That Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) wanted a ban on eating beef came as a huge shocker to the meat-eating population of India. But if you thought the hullabaloo over vegetarianism had ended, here’s another shocker for you. RSS, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its foreign wing Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, is going to bring forth its anti-beef movement on a much larger scale.

The foreign wing of RSS is going to organize a grand event in London at the end of next month, and if reports are to be believed, they have roped in some celebrities to support their cause. The first name which has come through for this event is that of Oscar award winning actor – Leonardo DiCaprio. Leo, who is a vegan himself, has been appointed as an ‘ambassador’ for the event, and will join RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on the stage. Adding to the star power will be Sir Richard Branson and Sir David Attenborough.

While RSS wants to ban beef citing religious sentiments of hundreds of Indians, Leonardo is against eating beef due to environmental  reasons, and has voiced his support for animal rights several times. While the RSS has failed to garner enough support back home, we will have to wait to see the outcome of this star-studded international anti-beef movement.
