Who shone at the MET Gala 2016
Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit—yes, that’s quite a mouthful! More popularly known as the MET Gala, this extravagant event is held on the first Monday of May each year to raise funds for the costume institute.
This year too, celebrities put on their best display. Of course, there were hits as well as misses. This year’s theme was Manus x Machina: fashion in an age of technology and we bring you both the best and the worst of the lot.

Beyonce floored everyone with a puff-sleeved, nude latex Givenchy gown.

Emma Watson carried off yet another pants-skirt ensemble. Here she’s in a Calvin Klein dress made out of recycled plastic bottles.

Lady Gaga turned heads in an Atelier Versace one-piece which she paired with a beaded bolero jacket.

Kate Hudson looked stunning in a white Atelier Versace gown.

Katy Perry took gothic to the next level with this Prada gown.

Supermodel Kendall Jenner kept it simple with a cutout Atelier Versace gown.

Kim wore a fully embellished, mirrored Balmain gown. Kanye paired his jeans with a simple white tee and threw a blingy jacket on top. But did you notice their eyes?

Lupita Nyong’o looked stunning in a pale jade, sequined Calvin Klein gown.

Madonna made a bold statement yet again—this time with nipple tape! The singer wore a racy lace Givenchy dress and flaunted her ample assets.

Actress Naomi Watts looked incredibly classy in a mirrored Burberry dress complete with floral embellishments.

Nicole Kidman looked heavenly in Alexander McQueen’s gown and cape, embellished with stars and moons.

Model Poppy Delevingne almost stole the crown for the best dressed in this layered, nude and silver, plunging Marchesa gown.

Rachel McAdams wore a golden-coloured, script-embroidered Valentino gown.

Taylor Swift, also a host that evening, wore a reptile-skinned, cutout Louis Vuitton halter dress.

Homeland star Claire Danes clearly stood out at the event in Zac Posen’s glow-in-the-dark dress!
