A 24-year-old US college student disappeared during his trip to China in 2004. He was presumed dead until now. Contrary to what was believed, a Japanese news agency reported he was spotted in North Korea.

According to the report by Yahoo news Japan, David Sneddon who disappeared in the Yunnan Province in western China was actually kidnapped by the North Korean operatives to teach English to . He is reportedly now living in North Korea with a wife and two children.

It was initially assumed that Sneddon died while hiking in Tiger Leaping Gorge near the Jinsha River on 14 August 2004. However, his parents Roy and Kathleen never believed the official story that their son had died falling into a river. Aware of North Korea’s reputation for kidnapping foreigners, they believed that their son was taken because of his fluency in Korean. Sneddon had learnt the language during the time he spent as a Mormon missionary in South Korea.

The parents have been urging the US government to  investigate on Sneddon’s disappearance for the last 12 years.

According to a report by independent, Choi Sun-yong, who heads the Abductees’ Family Union, said a source revealed Mr Sneddon was indeed abducted by North Korean Government to teach English to Kim Jong-un – who was heir to the country’s dictatorship at the time.
