Speaking to the media she said that she had only asked her father to help her pass, but they went ahead and made her the topper. Ruby’s results, along with the results of 13 other students, were withheld after an India Today exposé. In an interview with Aaj Tak, Ruby pronounced Political Science as ‘Prodigal Science’ and said that the subject was about cooking.

Ruby Rai had ‘scored’ 444 out of 500 marks in her class 12 exams in the Arts streams. It is believed that that she was able to cheat and obtain fake marks via a Bihari racket where students like Ruby would pay up to Rs 15 lakhs. The court is yet to decide on the arrest and punishment for the parents.
