In a shocking incident in Dehradun on Monday, a BJP MLA was caught on camera maiming a police horse.

In the video that went viral on social media, BJP MLA Ganesh Jogi is seen snatching a wooden club from a policeman and assaulting the animal. The horse has suffered multiple fractures in the rear limb and may not be able to walk hereafter.

The incident occurred during BJP’s protest march against Uttarakhand’s chief minister Harish Rawat. As the protesters headed towards the state legislative building, the police had deployed cavalry to cordon off the premises.

Harish Rawat condemned the BJP MLA’s actions. He announced that all medical expenses for the horse will be borne by the state and they will seek additional medical aid if required.

Meanwhile, Dehradun Police lodged an FIR against Jogi and aides who were involved in the brutal act. Police have invoked section 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc., of any value or any animal of the value of fifty rupees) and 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the IPC against the miscreants.
