It is a popular belief that friendships in the movie industry are a myth. In spite of hearing this from celebrities time and again, we have seen examples of true friendships in the industry, with these “friends” helping out each other in times of need. However, when it comes to movies, there are no friends, only rivals. There have been times when friendships have fizzled out due to movie clashes or because of a rival actor being cast in the film. Kajol – Karan Johar: Kajol and Karan Johar have been an epitome of BFFs in Bollywood. They have worked together in many superhit films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kahi Gham, and it is no news that Kajol makes a special appearance in every single Karan Johar movie as he considers her to be his lucky charm. However, things changed when Kajol’s husband Ajay Devgn announced the release date of his directorial debut Shivaay, and it turned out to be the same date as Karan Johar’s upcoming film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM). Both refused to change their release dates as it is the Diwali weekend, and if reports are to be believed, Kajol and Karan are not on talking terms any more. Things have now spiraled out of control as Ajay has leaked a telephone conversation and accused Karan of paying Kamaal R Khan (KRK) to praise ADHM and slam Shivaay.

Aamir Khan – Salman Khan: Aamir and Salman have been cordial for the last two decades, and their partnership is best remembered for the cult comedy Andaz Apna Apna. They have not done a movie together after that, but have promoted each other’s films on social media, until recently. When Salman Khan announced Sultan and Aamir Khan announced Dangal, both realized how similar the two films based on the lives of wrestlers is going to be. Aamir and Salman have not spoken about each other’s work since then. Although Aamir tried to bury the hatchet when he praised Sultan, Salman gave a cold response and did not say anything good about Aamir.

Salman Khan – Sanjay Leela Bhansali: Salman and Sanjay have had a bittersweet relationship over the last few years. The director-actor duo gave two superhit films together – Khamoshi and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. If reports are to be believed, they fell apart when Salman gifted him a DVD of Christopher Nolan’s film The Prestige. Sanjay got the idea of making Guzaarish after watching the film but decided to cast Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya instead of Salman. This didn’t go well with the actor and he decided not to work with Sanjay ever again. From what we hear, Sanjay wants to make it up with the actor after so many years and has a script for him, which he will work on after completing Padmavati.
