Every amateur baker needs a good chocolate cake recipe in her repertoire. This one’s super simple and works beautifully. Just bung in all the ingredients, beat and bake for a chocolicious treat. We share our super easy chocolate cake recipe with you:
Ingredients 1 heaped cup plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup caster sugar
½ cup softened butter
½ cup good quality cocoa powder
½ cup milk
2 eggs at room temperature
1 tsp vanilla

Preheat the oven to 175 deg C
Sift the flour and baking powder into a roomy bowl.
Add all the other ingredients and beat with a hand-mixer on high speed for four minutes.
Pour the batter into the tin and bake for about 30 minutes. A toothpick pushed into the cake should emerge dry.
Leave to cool, turn out and top with chocolate ganache if you like. But it’s perfectly good just as it is.
Note: It’s absolutel yessential that the butter is soft and the eggs are at room temperature. The rest is a breeze.
