In one of the most sensational moves yet for the Gunners, former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech signed for Arsenal in this summer’s transfer window. And after playing 3 games and winning 3 titles to bring back the Emirates, Petr Cech has already found his winning touch at North London.

Here are 10 interesting facts about the Goalie that fans have already deemed to be wearing a “magic hat”.

1. A TV star

Believe it or not, Cech played the role of Honza in the Czech TV series- The Territory of White Deer around 1991.

2.  Born a triplet

Čech was born a triplet along with sister Šárka and a brother named Michal, who died aged two after contracting an infection in the hospital. It’s a miracle he survived and thus we have this gifted footballer amidst us.

3. Started out as a Midfielder / Striker

Fortuitous, you might say. At age 10, after breaking his leg playing for the youth team of FC Viktoria Plzen he was often set for goal on a temporary basis. He soon fell in love with the position and stuck with it.

Cech married Martina Dolejšová in June 2003. They have a daughter Adéla and a son Damián both born in the Czech Republic.

Wenger had an eye on the Petr when he was playing for Sparta in 2002. But due to unavailability of a work permit the deal didn’t go through.

6. Debut Season in the EPL

Cech made his debut against Manchester Untied in the English premier league. The Blues concede only 15 goals in that season.

7. Head injury

The knee blow that caused a depressed skull fracture is one that Cech has no memory of, as said in an interview to The Guardian in 2006. It was a near-death incident for the Czech Republic star.

Incidentally, that match saw the substitute Goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini also knocked unconscious later in the game and John Terry ended up going in goal for the remaining minutes.

8. The helmet that stuck

Although the fracture in his skull has been healed, Cech continues to wear the protective gear. In an interview with BBC, he attributed this to the fact that being born a triplet his skull bone is thinner than others.

9.  Left handed

Cech is left-handed, but can pack a mean punch with either hand.

10. Loves the drums

Besides beating the ball away from the Goal, he is quite good at beating the drums. He is fan of Coldplay, Foo Fighters and has also played with Roger Taylor of Queen. Check out his talent in the video below.
