The Haryana police have launched a new 24 hour helpline (8284030455), to which people can call and report incidents of cow smuggling or slaughter.  Information provided will be immediately alerted to special forces set-up for the purpose.

Haryana DGP K P Singh told Indian Express that barricades would also be put up to check for cow smuggling. The move comes after a video surfaced showing two men being made to eat cow dung by Gau Rakshak Dal volunteers after they were caught with beef in Faridabad.

Back in 2015, state government passed the Haryana Gausamvardhan Act, which allows a maximum of 10 year imprisonment for cow slaughter.
