Aashiq Abu is known to be opinionated! And here he is once again! This time he took to Facebook to support director Alphonse Putharen and his film Premam which failed to bag an award at the Kerala State Film Awards.

According to reports, the award jury’s chairman said in a statement that the jury hadn’t even considered Premam, as the film lacked crisp direction and reflected the director’s laziness.

Aashiq Abu said that if the jury chairman really said so, the crew as well as the director—a lad from Aluva—who worked day and night for the film’s success will be very dejected.  He went on to add that “Perunthachan Complex” has reached a limit in the Malayalam film industry.

In another Facebook post, he said that if despite the director’s sloppiness the film has become a huge hit in Kerala, then it is the best form of flattery.

Aju Varghese, known for his neutral stance, came out this time to support Alphonse Putharen, calling the jury’s remarks “lame”. A R Murugadoss also expressed his disappointment in Premam’s negligence at the awards.

While the Kerala State Film Awards’ jury seems to have neglected one of the most successful Malayalam films in the recent times, artistes and movie fans have unanimously expressed their disappointment.
