Four years ago, T. P. Chandrasekhar of the nascent Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) was brutally killed by his political rivals. No politically literate citizen of Kerala has forgotten the vicious act. Now, his 21-year-old son Abhinand has pleaded the murders to leave his mother alone after she was allegedly manhandled during a campaigning programme in Vadakara..

K. K. Rema, Abhinand’s mother and the slain comrade’s wife, is contesting the state assembly elections. The boy fears that his mother too would fall prey to the bloodthirsty political henchmen in Kannur.

Chandrasekharan was allegedly murdered by CPM goons in Onchiyam, Kannur. The assailants severed the man into pieces using sword-like weapons.

Forensic experts who examined Chandrasekharan’s corpse had testified that his face was cleaved around 51 times.

Seemingly rattled, Abhinand took to Facebook and wrote, “I lost my father when I was 17. Those who hacked my father to death are now threatening to do more than 51 wounds on my mother. It is more a threat directed at me. How have I wronged you? What was my father’s mistake? Did a person who pointed out the flaws of the organisation deserve to be killed? My mother who stood like a rock and backed me during all difficult times, is now shaken by the recent attack on her. My mother is all what I have. We need each other to keep the memories of my father alive. Please, don’t kill her. By Nandu.”

The post has gone viral and Keralites heading to polling stations today definitely have something to think about!
