In a bid to resolve the garbage woes of Kozhikode urban, the city municipal corporation now advocates bio-bins in households for source level waste management

A private firm named CROHHE has been entrusted by the Kozhikode municipal corporation to undertake the project that is based on source level waste management.

The municipal council on Saturday entrusted the agency to start consciousness campaigns and establish bio-bins at households.

The Hindu quoted the Health Standing Committee chairman K V Baburaj, “Houses would be provided with 5 bins each to keep their non organic waste segregated, which the firm or designated workers from the Corporation will collect on a regular basis to be disposed of. We need to develop a culture of waste management among the public first for the project to succeed.”

Previously Kozhikode Corporation dumped its waste in an area infamously known as ‘Nyaliyanparambu’ among the locals.
