One of the long serving staff in Raj Bhavan at Malabar hills had hinted him about the presence of an undiscovered British era bunker under his official residence. He then ordered the staff of public works department (PWD) to get the bunker opened.

What the PWD staff found when they broke opened a temporary wall on August 12 was a 5000 square feet big underground arsenal cum bunker! Mr.Rao and his wife visited the bunker on Tuesday and he wanted the officials to bring out scheme to preserve it.

The bunker opens with a 20-ft tall gate and a ramp on the western side. The 150meter tunnel-bunker has 13 rooms of different sizes. The rooms inside the bunker bears the names – Shell Store, Gun Shell, Cartridge Store, Shell Lift, Pump, Workshop etc.
