Shrikant Jichkar, most qualified man ever with 20 post graduate degrees

Are you finding you grad/post grad education tedious and boring? Well then take an inspiration pill from Shrikant Jichkar – the most educationally qualified man the world has ever seen.

This Maharashtrian has over a dozen of skill sets in his quiver and is a person who can be rightly addressed as ‘jack of  all trades’.

He was born in a Marathi family on September 14, 1954 in Nagpur. He was a scholar in almost all fields one may able to think about.

He was honored by the Limca Book of records – calling him the ‘Most Qualified Man’. Almost all of his merits were distinguished and had several gold medals in his bag.

Jichkar had a thirst for knowledge which was never quenched. He started his quest for knowledge by securing a degree in Medical Science – MBBS. Though launched a career in the field, he  soon dropped from the vocation to pursue his post grad studies – MS in medical science.

Subsequently, he he veered his focus into mastering law and in due time he finished his bachelors and masters in law. Following which he signed up for pursuing a masters in business administration (MBA). Later he also secured a degree in journalism.

This man of knowledge sat for 42 University examinations between the years 1973 and 1990 and guess what, he had nailed over 20 post graduate degree by then.

In 1978 he cracked IPS examination, only to resign later and in a bid to crack IAS. In the interim he managed to get masters degrees in Economics, English Literature, Sanskrit, Indian History, Public administration, Political Science, Sociology.

The list also included Masters in Philosophy, Culture & Archaeology, and Psychology. Jichkar also added a D.Litt in Sanskrit to the list of his merits.

In 1980 he got elected as a MLA in Maharashtra thus becoming the youngest ever politicians to hold 14 portfolios at a time.

It would also not be surprising to know that Jichkar had owned a personal library with over 52,000 books in his shelves.

Academics aside, Shrikant Jichkar also proved his mettle as painter, theatre performer, orator and photographer. He was also a member of Rajya Sabha during 1992 to 1998.

However, on June 2, 2004, Shrikant Jichkar – the man of excellence succumbed to a nasty road accident near Nagpur. He was just 51 when he died.
