Telangana’s chief minister K Chandrasekahr Rao (KCR) is reportedly superstitious! As part of an extensive PowerPoint presentation on the development of irrigation projects at the state assembly on Thursday, he added that he believes that it rains when he throws coins into the river.

“Whenever I cross rivers I throw coins into the water. My driver Balaiah will keep ready the coin change for me once he comes to know that a river is approaching ahead. By throwing coins into the rivers, I used to pray to mother Godaramma (river Godavari) and mother Krishnamma (river Krishna) and ask them when will they flow on to our barren fields. Perhaps, nobody would have thrown so many coins into rivers than me,” the chief minister told the House.

He continued his tirade against the earlier governments in united Andhra Pradesh for neglecting the development of the Telangana region, especially irrigation-based development. KCR explained to the House how his government intended to utilize the state’s share of 1,330 TMCs of water in both Godavari and Krishna rivers.

He vowed to irrigate one crore acres of barren lands in Telangana through the irrigation projects and termed the task as his responsibility.
