In a shocking incident, a toddler was found ‘playing ‘next to his dead parents’ bodies at Munirabad railway station in Karnataka. The child had assumed them to be asleep all the while.

The truth about his parents came to light after railway passengers found him wandering in the station. On realizing his parent’s death, onlookers informed railway police about the incident.

According to a report in The Time of India the boy’s father Iranna Talawar, 50, and Manjula, 40, had reached the station from Gadag to visit the Huligemma temple. The boy’s name is Devaraj.

Police officials and passengers were clueless on how to present the situation to the child.

Reportedly, the couple’s bodies were sent for autopsy after police suspected death under ‘mysterious circumstances’. The deceased were later identified as residents of Annigeri.

Iranna and Manjula boarded the train to Koppal from Gadag along with Devaraj. When they reached Munirabad on Sunday night, they stayed at Munirabad station and slept on the platform. On Monday morning, they were found dead

Though police suspect it to be case of suicide, the exact reason for their death has not been confirmed.

“Prima facie, it looks like suicide case, but we are not sure whether they consumed poison or something else. We don’t know the exact reason for their death. It will be clear after we get the postmortem reports,” RS Kotagi, Sub-inspector at Gadag Railway station, was quoted by TOI.

Railway police has informed the boy’s relatives to come and take the him into their custody. However, the child would be handed over to Child Protection Committee officials in case his kin fails to show-up.
