Are you ready to ride India’s first ever motorcycle that runs on electricity. Pune-based Tork Motorcycle are gearing up to launch the T6X, a battery-powered motorcycle positioned against a typical 125cc bikes.

The bike is claimed to offer a range of 100 kms on full charge and can reach a top speed of 95 km/h. The Lithium Ion batteries can achieve 80 % charge in one hour, but will take 2 hours to charge fully. The vehicle will come with a USB charger  and an onboard navigation system and integration with Android/iOS app.

There have been several companies which have launched electric scooters, bicycles and cars in India, but people have generally been reluctant to buy them with the reason being poor infrastructure (charging points, roadside assistance, and economic feasibility).  However, Kapil Shelke, the founder of Tork Motorcycles says  the company will be setting up charging points at coffee shops, malls and other places, apart from setting up roadside assistance programme.

There is still no word on the pricing of the vehicle, however,  the company looks initially launch the T6X in New Delhi, Pune and Bengaluru followed by Mumbai and Hyderabad.

The company aims to sell 10,000 units of the bike in the first year and 60,000 units by the end of five years.

Tork Motorcycles is an Indian start-up which has been in the International electric motorcycle racing circuit for nearly six years. The company is 24 engineers strong and is funded by Bhavish Agarwal and Anki Bhati, the founders of Ola for the new project.
