Just as Tsutomu Yamaguchi survived both the Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bombings during the second World War, this Utah teen has survived two bombings over a period of three years. 19-year-old Mason Wells from Sandy, Utah, narrowly escaped the Brussels terror attack after he was only a feet away from the bomb. He had earlier survived the Boston Marathon bombing in April, 2013.

Reportedly, he was also only a few hours from Paris when a series of explosions rocked the city killing 130 people.

Mason Wells is expected to make complete recovery after he suffered a severed Achilles tendon, head gash, shrapnel injuries and severe burns during the Brussels terror attack.

Three years before, Wells and his father had narrowly escaped death when the pressure-cooker bomb exploded a block away from where they were watching his mother run the Boston Marathon.

“Hopefully he’s run his lifelong odds and we’re done,” said Chad Wells according to The Hindu. “I think it will make him a stronger person, maybe the Boston experience was there to help him get through this experience,” he added.

The former high school lacrosse and football player had only 4 months left on his two-year Mormon mission.

“I’m completely shocked by the news. It’s the kind of thing as a parent you never, ever want to wake up to,” Chad Wells said according to The Hindu. “We’re just grateful that’s he lived through this experience,” he added.

One may remember how John McClane, from the Die Hard films, was always in the wrong place at the wrong time. This boy from Utah seems to be a living example of Bruce Willis’ character.
