It was not a very fine day for Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Jamnagar MP Poonamben Madam in Ahmedabad. While on an official inspection in the city, she fell into a 8-foot-deep drain.
Others who accompanied her too fell into the drain and were taken to a hospital in Jamnagar. The BJP MP has reportedly suffered head injuries. The mishap happened while she was inspecting a demolition site in the city.
Poonamben was at the site as the residents had staged a protest against the demolition carried out by Jamnagar Municipal Corporation. She was speaking with an official when the concrete slab, on which she and the others stood, collapsed into the deep underground conduit. They were rescued by the fire brigade unit that was present at the spot.
